Bernia Circuit via Forat
A classic and very popular circuit around this rock bound ridge taking in a steep ascent with a little easy scrambling, a short “passageway” and a return half across the flank of the mountain with a ruined fort and classic mountain views of the subsidiary summits of Severino and Ovenga.

The grade of this walk is MS/C/Scr, which means
MS – Moderately Strenuous: Up to 600 metres ascent and/or no more than 15 km in length with some rough going taken at a reasonable pace.
C – More than half the route on rough ground.
Scr – Scrambling: This implies the need for handholds to ascend steep rock pitches with a sense of exposure to vertigo and where a slip could lead to a serious accident.

In the town of Jalon look travel along the main village street (not the by-pass) and look for a turning south on the CV749. Follow this for some 11.5km and at a T-jnc where the main road turns L continue straight ahead to the first bend and park on the L in the trees. |

This is a great walk by any standards. Enough scrambling to make the climb feel worthwhile, excitement through the Forat and fantastic views to the south after emergence. A rewarding traverse of the southern slope before returning to the start.
